Geotechnical

Geotechnical Drilling and Site Investigation is the mainstay of ADS’ long-standing reputation and constitutes a significant proportion of our day-to-day workload. Since our inception in 1985, our reputation within the Site Investigation sector has been second to none, due in part to our excellent crews who we continually develop and train to the highest standards, but also to the continuous investment and renewal of our fleet of rigs. The result of this is the professional delivery and high quality data you receive from us, making sure we stay two steps ahead of the competition!

There are a number of drilling methods which we employ, ensuring that we are a complete solution for your next site investigation:

  • Rotary Coring – Conventional ‘core and case’ and Geobor-S Wireline systems.
  • Rotary Percussive – Down-the-hole-hammer, air flush.
  • Dynamic Sampling – Utilising dual-purpose drilling rigs to enable follow-on drilling, negating the requirement for two rigs to advance one borehole.
  • Rotary Open Hole – Water, Air or Water/Air mist flush.
  • Symmetrex, Odex and casing advancement systems – Ideal for penetrating cobbles, boulders and aggressive ground conditions.
  • Rotary Hollow-Stem augering – Allowing rapid installation of monitoring wells.
  • Cable Percussive/Shell & Auger.
  • Windowless/Window Sampling.
  • Modular Window Sampling.
  • Modular Rotary Coring.
  • Dynamic Probing

As well as our rigs and capabilities, we also pride ourselves in the level of training and investment in our team, so you can be assured of:

  • Friendly, positively motivated, trained and experienced drillers are CSCS and NVQ Level 2 qualified.
  • BDA Audited
  • First Aid Trained
  • Trained within aspects of Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, CoSHH, Asbestos, Environmental Awareness, LOLER, PUWER
  • Have Calm Networks Standpipe Training, allowing them to safely and legally utilise standpipes to access water for the drilling process.

Here at ADS we appreciate that Geotechnical Site Investigations differ from other types of drilling by way of the requirement for recovery of high quality sample recovery, whether that be UT100, Piston Samples or cores for further testing. We appreciate that insitu testing and sampling provides the exact data that you need to make informed decisions on the most cost-effective solutions, which is why we ensure that we provide our data in clear, concise and easy to read logs in a timely manner. Why not call us today on the telephone numbers below to discuss your next project, and how we can employ a vast array of methods to ensure you get the data you require at a price that suits your budget.
